Fixing habit tracking fatigue with a single daily dashboard.
People who want to stay organized often end up juggling four different apps: a workout tracker, an expense log, a habit checklist, and a to-do list. Inevitably, maintaining the trackers becomes more work than doing the habits. At Routin, I lead engineering to bring these pieces into a fast, unified mobile app that people can update in seconds.
The biggest risk with an all-in-one tracker is cognitive overload. Cramming habits, fitness, money, and tasks into one mobile app easily turns into a cluttered wall of forms. We needed to keep routine logging under five seconds per action, ensure the app felt snappy even on flaky connections, and turn raw data into helpful daily patterns instead of meaningless vanity graphs.

How I approached it.
01
Speed-first input & voice logging
If logging takes more than a couple of taps, people stop doing it. I implemented quick-tap habit completions and a voice-input parser so users can dictate quick updates—like logging a workout or a quick expense—while walking or working out.
02
Unified data model with NestJS
Instead of treating habits, workouts, and spending as isolated databases, I built a modular NestJS API where daily activities contribute to a single daily summary. This makes calculating streaks and surfacing correlations fast without bogging down the phone.
03
Streaks and momentum without the noise
We added streak multipliers and XP milestones to reward consistency. The interface focuses on momentum and personal bests without bombarding users with annoying popups every time they tick a box.
